Learning Tracks
Leadership
These workshops will focus on building leaders within the Black Gay community. Leaders are those that are not afraid to stand and be counted among as members of Black Gay community. Not all leaders are out, but their commitment is to the cause even if they cannot publicly acknowledge their sexual orientation. These workshops will address how to become comfortable in our own skin to stand in the Light and be who we are if that is where you want to stand: Black and Same Gender Loving, Homosexual, Gay, etc.
Advocacy
These workshops will focus on the need for more Black Same Gender Loving men to stand up and address issues that are paramount in our communities that directly impact the Black community. Session attendees will be equipped to address issues of homophobia, stigma, communicate about Black Same Gender Loving issues, and other aspects to assure the Black Gay community is not disrespected, disregarded or misrepresented.
Spirituality
These workshops are designed to address the issues surrounding Black Same Gender Loving men and their spirituality. These workshops will address the realities of being Black, Same Gender Loving and Christian, What the Bible states about homosexuality, Does God love Same Gender Loving people?, AIDS is not God's punishment for our sexuality, etc.
Relationships
These workshops will address one of the most difficult aspects of being Black and Same Gender Loving; relationships and how to maintain a good one. We will address a multitude of issues surrounding relationships and being a Black Same Gender Loving men. These workshops will address interracial dating, intergenerational dating, family, sero discordant relationships, sero concordant relationships, tops vs. bottoms, who’s in charge, open relationships, monogamy in relationship, is monogamy a reality in Black Same Gender Loving relationships, will I loose my family if I come out, building a family through choice and not birth, Gay Day & Gay Mothers, etc.
Health & Wellness
These workshops will address health and wellness issues that are specific to Black men with regard to their sexual orientation. These workshops will address issues of HIV/AIDS, but also other health and wellness concerns that plague the Black male experience; physical fitness, hypertension, stress, depression, prostate cancer, drug and alcohol abuse, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, skin care, etc.
